Normandy, the ideal destination for lovers of history, art, great outdoors and superb food.

Normandy is situated north west of Paris and is the perfect destination steeped in history that invites you to retrace the footsteps of William the Conqueror and to walk along the D-day Beaches. Being one of the most significant events of the Second World War, the D-Day landings on the coast of Normandy marked the start of a campaign which led to eventual Allied victory in Europe in May 1945.

With its stunning coastline and cultural towns, Normandy is renowned for international highlights, such as Mont-Saint-Michel, Tapestry of Bayeux, medieval streets of Rouen, chalk cliffs of Etretat and much more… Normandy is also the birthplace of the impressionist movement made famous by Claude Monet. The Musée des Impressionnismes and Monet’s house & gardens in Giverny are one of the region’s major tourist sites, much visited for their beauty, their water lilies and their importance to Monet’s artistic inspiration. Not to forget, its famous cheeses: Camembert, Livarot and ancient Pont-l’Évêque; its cider and Calvados, traditionally drunk between courses to aid with digestions.

Normandy is easily accessible by plane, train or by road. The region is a two hour drive from Paris and its airports, Roissy-Charles de Gaulle and Orly, or from the port of Calais. If you take the train from Paris, in just over an hour you will arrive in Normandy’s main cities. With four local cross-Channel ports, there are also regular sailings from Britain and Ireland. Whether you plan on a dedicated trip or are looking to include the region as part of a wider tour, Normandy remains the ideal destination with a mixture of France’s best countryside, heritage, culture, food and entertainment.
